An opportunity has arisen for a permanent, full-time Psychotherapist to work at Ashburn Clinic in Dunedin, New Zealand.

Ashburn Clinic is a psychiatric hospital and democratic therapeutic community established over 130 years ago.  In catering for both privately and publically funded patients, Ashburn’s treatment model makes a significant and unique contribution to the overall mental health services in New Zealand.  Our patients are adults and particularly present with mood and anxiety disorders, eating disorders, personality disorders, addictions, and complex responses to trauma.

The successful applicant must have a formal qualification in psychotherapy and be registered as a psychotherapist with PBANZ in New Zealand, or be eligible to be so registered.

Consultant Psychiatrist

An opportunity has arisen for a permanent full-time Consultant Psychiatrist to work at Ashburn Clinic in Dunedin, New Zealand.

Ashburn Clinic is a private psychiatric hospital established in this small university city over 130 years ago. It operates as a democratic therapeutic community, treating a broad range of patients who are privately or publically funded. Ashburn’s public funding recognises its role as a national, tertiary service using a model of treatment that makes a unique contribution to the overall mental health services in New Zealand. The majority of our patients are adults with mood and anxiety disorders, eating disorders, personality disorders, addictions, and severe and complex responses to trauma.

The successful applicant will work within a multi-disciplinary team to provide assessment and treatment of inpatients within the therapeutic community and outpatients in our general adult service, as well as contribute to the after-hours on-call roster.

Registration with the NZ Medical Council and a Fellowship with the RANZCP or equivalent is necessary. Ideally the applicant would have some experience working in psychodynamic psychotherapy and a therapeutic community; however an interest in both and an open-ness to learn is also acceptable.

We offer professional development and a competitive remuneration package.
