Receptionist (part-time, fixed-term)

Ashburn Clinic seeks the services of a capable and experienced Receptionist to work a minimum of two days a week, and provide additional administration cover on an as-required basis, for a fixed term.

You will be working from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm on Thursdays and Fridays until the end of January 2020, and will be expected to work through the Christmas period.  There may be additional hours available on other days of the week during the fixed-term, to cover staff absences. 

You will have a warm and friendly telephone manner, excellent communication skills, and the ability to deal with people from all walks of life.  You will be interacting with doctors, nurses, patients and their families, and members of the non-clinical staff teams, so you will need to be able to manage boundaries and maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times. 

In addition, you will have well-developed computing and technical skills, cash-handling skills, and be able to carry out word processing and other administrative support functions with ease.

Finance Manager

An opportunity has arisen for a permanent full-time Finance Manager to work at Ashburn Clinic in Dunedin. 

Ashburn Clinic is a psychiatric hospital established in Dunedin over 130 years ago.  It operates as a democratic therapeutic community, treating a broad range of patients who are privately or publicly funded.  The majority of our patients are adults with mood and anxiety disorders, eating disorders, personality disturbances, addictions, and severe and complex responses to trauma.

The Finance Manager is an integral part of the Ashburn Clinic team and will be required to manage and lead the Administration Team to provide timely analysis and insight on business operations, identify and implement improvements in administrative systems and processes, and to contribute to Ashburn’s strategic direction. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Strong leadership of the Administration team
  • Financial management and reporting, with a focus on accuracy and efficiency
  • Provide monthly management accounts, capital asset information, tax, provision and other relevant financial information to external providers for verification
  • Manage Clinic assets and facilities in consultation with the Management team
  • Oversee patient information and financial administration services for the Clinic.

Skills and experience:

  • Tertiary qualification majoring in accounting, finance or management
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a middle to senior management/accounting role
  • Financial systems knowledge
  • Team leadership and management experience with a process improvement focus
  • Customer service understanding and experience
  • Advanced IT literacy and reporting skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Effective working knowledge of Xero, and knowledge of Datacom Payroll Systems (desirable). 

Interpersonal skills required:

  • Ability to lead and manage a small team to maintain positive working relationships, ensuring team members are completing tasks accurately, efficiently and within deadlines
  • Performance management and professional development skills
  • Highly effective communicator with management, clinical and non-clinical staff and external contacts
  • Flexible and adaptive to changing demands.

Consultant Psychiatrist

An opportunity has arisen for a permanent full-time Consultant Psychiatrist to work at Ashburn Clinic in Dunedin, New Zealand.  The position is full time, but we would consider a minimum of 0.7 FTE.

Ashburn Clinic is a private psychiatric hospital established in this small University City over 130 years ago.  It operates as a democratic therapeutic community, treating a broad range of patients who are privately or publicly funded.  Ashburn’s public funding recognises its role as a national, tertiary service using a model of treatment that makes a unique contribution to the overall mental health services in New Zealand.  The majority of our patients are adults with mood and anxiety disorders, eating disorders, personality disorders, addictions, and severe and complex responses to trauma. 

The successful applicant will work within a multi-disciplinary team to provide assessment and treatment of inpatients within the therapeutic community, and outpatients in our general adult service, as well as contribute to the after-hours on-call roster.  According to their level of experience and seniority, there could also be opportunities for taking on some leadership and management responsibilities.

Registration with the NZ Medical Council and a Fellowship with the RANZCP or equivalent is necessary.  Ideally the applicant would have some experience working in psychodynamic psychotherapy and a therapeutic community; however an interest in both and an openness to learn is also acceptable.

Registered Nurse, full-time, Monday–Friday, day shift

Ashburn Clinic is a not-for-profit therapeutic community and psychiatric hospital in Dunedin, offering a professional and supportive environment for assessment, treatment and recovery from mental illness and addictions. 

We are looking for an experienced Registered Comprehensive/Mental Health Nurse with maturity, a positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills and an interest in working with groups to join the clinical team within our group-based residential programme. 

Skills/attributes required:

  • Highly developed organisational skills. 
  • An interest in working in a team nursing model.
  • Able to communicate well within a multidisciplinary team.

Mental Health Professional (part-time)

Are you a healthcare worker with recent Mental Health and Addictions experience, looking for a part-time position (up to 0.8 FTE)?

We are seeking a Registered Comprehensive/Mental Health or Enrolled Nurse, or Mental Health Worker/Health Care Assistant, who has mental health and/or addiction experience to work in our democratic Therapeutic Community.

Ashburn Clinic is a residential facility with an emphasis on working psychotherapeutically in groups with people who have a range of mental health and addiction problems.  We utilise a team nursing approach and offer the successful candidate opportunities to grow their experience of working in dynamic group settings.

You would be working with a team of nurses who are part of a multi-disciplinary team and would be expected to have good interpersonal communication skills, a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.

You would be required to cover a variety of shifts, including day, night and weekends.
