“I Get Hope Through Action”: Scaffolding Collective Hope and Agency in Youth Activist Groups
Presented by Professor Karen Nairn from the University of Otago
About This Seminar
Learning to hope collectively in activist groups is hard work. These activists’ commitment to shared goals, a sense of community, a belief in democratic participation, and courage to take action with others, were integral to building collective hope. This research can inform other investigations of collective emotional labour and in particular what interventions might be necessary to foster critical forms of hope to counter collective anxieties.
Recorded live at Ashburn Clinic on the 8th of July 2024.
