Dr Brett Ferguson

Medical Director/
Consultant Psychiatrist



Brett completed his training in adult psychiatry and psychotherapy at Ashburn Clinic and was appointed consultant psychiatrist here in 2005.  

He has wide experience in practising psychiatry within a therapeutic community and heads the Clinic’s eating disorder specialist team. 

In 2009 Brett became Medical Director of the Clinic.

Julie Roper
B Com, Dip Grad, CA

Business Director


As Business Director, Julie leads the non-clinical team, who are responsible for managing the physical and operational issues associated with  Ashburn Clinic.

Julie brings to the Clinic many years’ experience in senior management positions in the private sector. 

She joined the Ashburn Clinic team in 2014.


Dr Sheila Doshi
MB ChB, FRANZCP,Cert. Advanced Training in Addiction Psychiatry

Consultant Psychiatrist

Sheila joined the Ashburn Clinic as a Consultant Psychiatrist after gaining experience in Great Britain and New Zealand. 

She has specialised training in addiction psychiatry and is a key member of the professional team who have developed the Ashburn Addiction Programme.



Dr Megan Bryan
MB ChB, FRANZCP,FRNZCGP, Cert Advanced Training in Psychotherapy.

Consultant Psychiatrist


Megan trained and worked in General Practice for 10 years before switching to psychiatry in 1997.

She has completed training in both psychiatry and psychotherapy and has been working in the Ashburn Clinic therapeutic     comunity since 2005.




Richard O'Neill-Dean
BSc(Hons) DipClinPsychTh MIPAA.

Registered Psychotherapist
Richard trained in Ireland as a psychoanalytic psychotherapist then emigrated to Dunedin, where he has lived for over 20 years. At Ashburn Clinic he works with both individuals and groups, being especially interested in group analytic thinking in the therapeutic community setting.


Dr Brendan O’Neill

Visiting General Practitioner
Ashburn Clinic provides on site general practice services. Brendan is a local GP who runs a half day clinic on the Ashburn premises twice weekly. Brendan has been a general practitioner in Dunedin since 1994 and has been part of the clinical team at Ashburn since 2001.
